Shape a Surfboard

Ever wondered what goes into creating the perfect surfboard?

The experienced shapers at the Goat Shed in Sumner are keen to pass on their knowledge and skills to the next generation of surfers. We are currently seeking expressions of interest from young people in Years 10–12 who would like to learn the art and science of surfboard shaping.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore the full process of designing, shaping, and designing the finish of a board, while gaining an understanding of how different shapes and design features influence a board's performance in the water.

This is a unique hands-on opportunity to learn a traditional craft, develop practical skills, and deepen your understanding of surfing from the inside out at the Goat Shed in Sumner. The finished board will go back to the Surfboard library to be rented for free to the surf community.
